Welcome to C.H. Campbell Kindergarten!
We are going to have a great year!
We provide a program that includes developmentally appropriate
activities and an exciting environment in which to learn! We invite you to
support and participate in your child’s education!
C.H. Campbell Kindergarten seeks to balance child-initiated learning with
teacher-guided and supported activities in a happy environment! Children
experience independence and hands-on learning activities to promote
success in reading, writing, and problem solving. These experiences will
provide opportunities to help your child grow academically, emotionally,
and socially every day!
ATTENDANCE
Consistent attendance is essential for your child to obtain the maximum
benefit from our kindergarten program. School hours are 8:45-3:30. Buses
arrive at 8:30 in the morning. If your child arrives earlier than the
designated start time, he/she must wait outside until the buses arrive. Please
send a note if your child is tardy, will be picked up, needs to be dismissed
early, or is returning to school after an absence. You must always sign your
child out in the office.
CLOTHING
Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for PE activities (i.e.
tennis shoes and comfortable clothing). A schedule of our special classes
including art, gym, library, music, and computers will be sent home. Your child
will use “messy” things in kindergarten—glue, play dough, markers, paint, etc.,
so please dress them in clothes that can get “dirty”. Please be sure your child
can operate his/her own clothes, such as fasteners on overalls, snaps,
buttons, tights, etc. Coats, mittens, boots, scarves, etc., MUST be labeled
with your child’s name!!!!!
SNACK
Please provide a small, nutritious snack for your child each day that can be
eaten in approximately 10 minutes. Please do not send a drink.
SCHOOL/HOME COMMUNICATION
At the beginning of each month, you will receive a newsletter explaining skills
and concepts we will be working on. Dates of special events in our classroom
and school will also be included.
HOMEWORK
Homework in kindergarten includes DAILY practice of skills we are learning,
such as letter sounds and formation, sight words, and math facts. You will
receive information about how to practice these skills to reinforce what your
child is learning in school. This home/school connection is an important aspect
in following-up and strengthening the skills your child is working on. Thank you
ahead of time for partnering with me in your child’s education!
DAILY FOLDER
A folder will be used to send items home from school. PLEASE CHECK THIS
FOLDER EVERY DAY. Please use this folder to send homework, notes, etc.,
to school, as well. It will be your child’s responsibility to deliver the contents
to me into a designated tray each day—therefore, it is essential for you to
review and remove the contents before school the next day.
CONFERENCES
Parents are invited to attend two parent/teacher conferences held in
November and February.
CONTACT INFORMATION
Please contact me if you have a concern about your child. I would LOVE this
to be a joyful year for your child, each and every day! However, something
may come up that is upsetting to your child, so please let me know about it so
we can work on figuring out a solution together! You can send me a note, or
call the school and leave a message for me to return your call. If it is a
question I can answer very simply, you can email me:
